When you think about garage floor coatings, there are probably four options that spring to mind. For most people, it’s a choice of either epoxy, paint, tiles, or mats.
But actually, there is another, superior choice on the market. One that blows the socks off these other options, and will stand the test of time. It’s called polyurea.
It might not have the coolest name, but it’s got the coolest creds. Let’s dig into three things you should know about garage floor coatings, and why polyurea wins every time.
1. They Should Resist Chemicals and Scrapes
What do you usually do in your garage? For most people, it’s a place to do dirty work, such as replacing the oil, detailing, or just cleaning out the car.
Spills happen, and you need a surface that can resist oil and other chemicals. In the winter, your car will also drag in salt and other junk from the road that could damage the garage flooring coating.
Both epoxy and polyurea do a great job of resisting most common chemicals. Where polyurea takes the lead is in its scratch resistance. Its ultra-hard top coating makes it very difficult to scratch or scrape.
2. Impervious to Moisture

It can withstand temperatures up to 140°F and is not sensitive to UV. It’s 20 times stronger than epoxy, meaning when it goes on a floor, it lasts.
